ReplyDeleteWith this, it seems that the American is portrayed as a more modern and "evolved" version of his former self. He embraces a new life with new cultural values, leaving behind his old prejudices and customs. In other parts of the text, Crèvecoeur also acknowledges the regional differences within the country (North/South), which challenges the ideological idea of a fully "united" state and contrasts with the complex reality.
